Journey: An Odyssey was inspired by my travels around the world and the many beautiful and interesting faces I saw. Some of the faces were etched on my mind waiting to go on canvas while others were taken from photographs I saw that made an impression on me. Others were created from my imagination.
I used many faces from around the world, but mostly from Asia. I found their faces to be the most expressive. Especially India. The eyes of the children, as well as the very old, always tell an ancient story. Their gaze is always deep and penetrating.
Collectively, I've placed these people from around the world on a journey -- an odyssey. In every painting there's a pathway that shows the subjects coming or going somewhere. Most of the subjects are at the beginning of their journey with a few exceptions.
